Welcome to the home page of Silent Thunder, a dark
bay 12YO "OTTB" (Off-Track Thoroughbred) who was placed through CANTER - the Communication Alliance to Network Thoroughbred
Ex-Racehorses.

SEE THUNDER RACE at Tampa Bay Downs - click here to view the video!
It takes a minute or so to download so you
can view it...he's the only horse in this race with white blinkers, and he'll drop out of the big screen for a while because
he's a closer....turn your sound up!
And after you have watched his race....look at the photo
below and marvel at how far he has come. This is July 2008 - the racehorse transformed!

I found Thunder through the Thoroughbred rescue site www.canterusa.org. I enthusiastically support all Thoroughbred rescues,
but CANTER stands out in my mind because of its setup - by focusing on a forum to make it easy for trainers and
owners to post and encouraging direct contact without filtering through the organization or adoption process, I believe CANTER is
most focused on placing thoroughbreds in higher volumes. Please click on

Thunder was a successful racer on the track, winning 15 races, finishing in the money in nearly half of
his 86 starts, and earning almost $220K in purse money. He was even stakes-placed. He is a son of the Eclipse
Award-winning Bertrando and a grandson of Breeders Cup Classic winner Skywalker. Check out his pedigree here:http://www.pedigreequery.com/silent+thunder
This was the photo of Thunder that was posted
on the canterusa.org website as part of his ad. CANTER volunteers often help owners/trainers with their listings by
coming to the track to take photos. This photo was taken very shortly after he ran what would be the last race of his
career on October 29th, 2005 - which is why he still looks relatively fit and filled out, like a racehorse!

My goal in creating this site is twofold:
1. To give my friends a place they could go to check out Thunder's progress, a subject of much discussion in my life!
And 2. To promote the rescue and retraining of Thoroughbred racehorses. I hope that through this site, others
will be encouraged to save the lives of these amazing animals.
